On Sunday  July 19th 2009, we made ham radio activity form one of the old mills sites in the Natural Park of Argentera located in Cadegliano Viconago (VA), activating for the first time, a place not valid for other permanent Awards like DAI, DCI or DLI. It was a challenge that sooner or later had to face, to verify the interest that our "Regio Insubrica Award" for hunters.

The response was very satisfactory and we were honored for 182 QSOs made, 17 on CW and 165 on SSB. In the morning we received a welcome visit our Membership Ivano IK2YXH and Fabio IZ2GMU, who can not be joining the team for family problems, are gone for a greeting.

Our target was to activate something news, to increase friendship and Ham Spirit among TERA Radio Club and Insubria Radio Club members, to work all modes and as much bands as possible and to enjoy a lot.

We logged 1577 QSO (1273 SSB, 128 CW, 3 RTTY, 173 PSK) tank to the opportunity to be “on air” with the call H9IRC/p for about 48 hours, contacting several  countries (from Japan to U.S.A.) without great pretensions.
Shootings made by HB9FAQ Fiorenzo (he works better in Ham Radio .... the camera is not his hobby!) attest the big fun and, as the comments received, we did enjoyable activities. This means our goals are achieved!

From our part, Insubria Radio Club / HB9, we are thinking of different activities and how to improve our stations in handset.
We are evaluating the activities for 2010 but before we are on  air in September with the call HB9VELO to celebrate the World Cyclyng of Mendrisio.

On Saturday  May 2nd, 2009  we started our activations from Piona Abbey not far form  Colico (LC), first reference for “Regio Insubrica Award” (I-001), also valid for D.A.I.  LB-0248 and  D.L.I. I2-099 (Piona Lake). All  of us appreciated a lot  this first moment of aggregation and also some families of ours took part to the event, just like the spirit we would have liked. We made only 136 QSO, because of a bad propagation; unfortunately some OMs from the north part of Italy was not able to contact us! We gave to  Father Giuseppe Sergio IK2OVG and Father Carlo SWL I-0156 the parchment of Members ad Honorem of Insubria Radio Club.

The “Regio Insubrica” Award (D.R.I.) is issued by Insubria Radio Club with the purpose to  popularize the knowledge of landscapes, the historical, artistic heritage  and the rural culture of Euroregion  Regio Insubrica, which includes Ticino (Switzerland) and the provinces of Como, Lecco, Novara, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and Varese:
