This year we decided to dedicate a reference from Swiss of "Regio Insubrica" Award to Monte Lema, a cross-borders mountain for excellence, with an Italian side on Veddasca Valley and a Swiss side on the valleys of Lugano, especially the most scenic of Canton Ticino where you can enjoy a 360 ° view our Insubria. Destination for many hikers and mountain bikers, there are plenty of comfortable well-marked paths that lead us in different valleys and to Monte Tamaro.
The summit of Monte Lema is reached by cable car from Miglieglia a small village of Malcantone, accessible by anyone who arrives from the customs of Ponte Tresa (VA), turn left at the roundabout of Caslano, while those arriving from the motorway (A2-exit Lugano North), follow the signs for Ponte Tresa and turn right at the roundabout above.

For those wishing to spend a quiet day on the summit, we recommend to take the path called "Insubrico" an easy flat ring, a tour of half an hour at a very slow pace, it makes us enjoy a beautiful panorama2landscape. First (starting from the arrival of cable left) the panorama opens on Lugano Lake, with a view on the city on the left and on the right on Ponte Tresa, then you start going to see part of Maggiore Lake, the Monte Rosa the Swiss Alps. Observation points with sentieromte_rosainformation are placed on the path with panoramic references to indicate lakes, mountains and cities to people who do not know this beautiful area.
On the summit you can eat at the hostel-hotel, where you can enjoy excellent dishes prepared by Chef Claudio, then panorama3sunbathe on the panoramic terrace solarium and where you can also overnight.
