Thanks to the sunny day, a beautiful landscape welcomed us on the little mountain Picuz, where at about 12:00 UTC we started activating the references DRI-I006 and DAI LB-0656, the third concerning Churches / Abbey, which allowed us to obtain the first Award as DXspeditioners and for this we thank the "clerk" Walter IK2WZQ.

The station was set up under an arcade a few meters from the church of Saint Clement and we want the take the opportunity to express heartfelt thanks to Mr. Monti and his family who granted the use of this space, provided electricity and especially supported the bustle of our rumors!

The proximity of the mobile phone and broadcastings repeaters generated a strong background noise, which didn't allowus to hear weaker signals, so at end of the day we made only 138 QSOs, two of them to DV, which were made possible thanks to the repeater HB9OK of Tera Radio Club, located on Generoso Mountain (Canton Ticino).

Look for our Friend Mario from Elba Island (Tuscany). He will be "on air" from the late afternoon of Saturday (Aug. 4th) to the evening of next Friday as IA5/IZ2GAO.

Spot on cluster are the welcome!

Il prossimo 10 settembre il nostro Amico Agostino IK2FIQ lascerà definitivamente la Lombardia per trasferirsi nella sua terra natia, in provincia di Caserta. Purtroppo la zona 2 perderà un grande OM e soprattutto noi dell'Insubria Radio Club perderemo un insuperabile operatore per le nostre attivazioni, pur restando un Grande Amico e Socio. Non disperiamo di riaverlo nel nostro Team nelle occasioni in cui verrà a far visita al figlio Giovanni IZ2AHM e sicuramente sarà nostra cura far coincidere la data di un'attivazione per avere il grande piacere della sua presenza.

ARRIVEDERCI TINO.... TI ASPETTIAMO PRESTO!

Sabato 11 e domenica 12 settembre 2010 saremo nuovamente presenti con il nostro stand a “Computerfest & Radioamatore” presso il polo di Malpensa Fiere a Busto Arsizio (VA). Dopo la nostra prima partecipazione di gennaio 2008 abbiamo ritenuto fondamentale non mancare a questa importante kermesse, che di edizione in edizione è sempre cresciuta, guadagnando sempre più consensi, grazie al costante impegno della Sezione ARI di Busto Arsizio. Per il nostro Team anche questo è un’importante momento di aggregazione ed a testimonianza di ciò è la partecipazione di Sergio IZ3CNM, che dopo l’esperienza di maggio allo stand, ha voluto bissare, garantendo la sua presenza in entrambi i giorni, affiancando altri Soci che si alterneranno per incontrare tutti gli Amici che passeranno per un saluto sempre molto gradito, o per illustrare le nostre attività a chi vuole conoscerci meglio… e perché no, accogliere eventuali nuovi Soci! Naturalmente il nostro stand sarà trasnfrontaliero a tutti gli effetti, in quanto ci saranno anche i nostri Soci elvetici a conferma del gemellaggio sancito con il Tera Radio Club di Lugano ed il Radio Club Locarno.

IQ2IR "on air" on Sunday 29th, 2010!

Hoping in realistic weather forecast, which gives a sunny day in Sangiano (VA), where we shall activate the Picuz MOuntain (DRI-I006) and the church of Saint Clement (DAI-LB-0656).... hoping in a good propagation!

We shall start in the morning in 40 mt. band, in the afternoon QSY in 20 mt. and other bands with good chances. For the first time we shall try to speriment also D-STAR communications, thanks the repeaters of the swiss TERA Radio Club and Radio Club Locarno (twinning with us), besides IQ2GM of ARI Gallarate and we thank in advance their maintainers!

sabato 21 mattina dalle ore 07:00 UTC nelle bande 40m 20m ed altre secondo propagazione Claudio HB9EFJ, Luciano HB9FBI assieme e Franco HB9EDG saremo attivi da Claro (Canton Ticino) con le referenze DCS-TI019 Castalderia, DCS-TI020 Castello dei Magoria e DAS-TI07 Monastero delle Benedettine.

Domenica 22, principalmente di mattina, nelle bande 40m, 20m + altre secondo propagazione HB9EFJ e HB9FBI saranno attivi da Faido (Canton Ticino) con le referenze DAS-TI26 Convento delle figlie di San Vincenzo e DAS-TI31Convento delle suore della Congregazione della Visitazione.

CW activity from Monte Lema by HB9EKR

For all CW operators: look for our Friend Jack IZ3DBA on Aug. 17 and 18 with his swiss call HB9EKR from Lema Mountain. Exactly one month after the activation of Insubria Radio Team from the same location, he will join with his keyer, hoping in a better propagation.

But also for SSB operators there will be any chance to contact Jack... sometimes he will leave his keyer for the mike!

Picuz Mountain and Saint Clement Church

Everywhere there are places not well known, so it’s our desire to popularise them as sites of scenic interest of our Insubria.

In this regard, we have dedicated the reference DRI I-006, our permanent and itinerant Regio Insubrica Award to Picuz Mountain (521 mt.) in Sangiano (Varese) and its summit with the church of Saint Clement (also referenced for Italian Abbeys Award LB-0656 which of course we include in our activity), where we enjoy breathtaking views of Varese Lake, the higher part of MaggioreLake and the town of Laveno.
